Sebasco Harbor Resort is proud to introduce our new Executive Chef, Melanie Houston, who will be leading the culinary team for the 2019 season – our 90th! Chef Melanie, a Topsham (Maine) native and resident, was our Executive Sous Chef last season and is stepping into this leadership role with confidence, creativity and flair.

She will guide the menus at our two restaurants, The Pilot House and Ledges Pub & Patio. She will also create the memorable Sunday Suppahs and Thursday Lobster Bakes that make Sebasco such an iconic Maine food destination.

I’m sourcing lobster from lobster fishermen I grew up with, and buying from farms throughout Midcoast Maine, bringing flavors of this place into everything we do.” said Melanie Houston, Executive Chef at Sebasco Harbor Resort.

The Sebasco Food Mission is simple: provide our guests with the best food this region has to offer with creative, healthy and delicious results. We believe that the food we grow, procure from the local community and cook in the place that we call home, define who we are… It’s Pure Maine! Chef Melanie embraces this tradition and you will get the chance to taste the results.

Prior to joining the Sebasco Team, Melanie was an integral part of the culinary staffs at Ocean Reef Club, Florida and the Harraseeket Inn, Maine. Chef Melanie is a graduate from Johnson & Wales University majoring in Culinary Arts – during her schooling, she also spent her first summer working at Sebasco. “The experience made me realize I didn’t want to work in Marketing – I wanted to cook! Sebasco and their chef at the time were my inspirations to diving into the culinary world, when prior to that, I thought it would only be a hobby for me.”

In 2019, Chef Melanie entered the Maine Restaurant Week Incredible Breakfast Cookoff with her signature Maine Breakfast Tot – made with Aroostook potatoes, Pineland Farms cheddar, Bisson’s spicy sausage, redeye gravy made with Coffee By Design’s Sebasco Blend and local fresh eggs from Bowdoin.
